Berry Tart

I want to try this but it looks kind of fussy. Anybody know a really simple cheater way to make something that looks similar?

I can't bake... at all... its ugly. So if I want pie or dessert type things with fruit I just make a crumble type topping. I don't know how that would be with berries. I just did one that was some strawberries, rhubarb and apples that was so yummy, but I would never attempt a tart thing like that.

I don't have pictures - or a post even - but we made this all the time growing up and it's so good and always looks pretty. You can use the fruit you have and get creative decorating it. Mom used to do the crust and spread the cream, and then just give it to us with whatever fruit she had and we always had a great time designing with the fruit.

Fruit Pizza:
2/3 c. plus 2 T. shortening
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
4-5 T. water
1pkg cream cheese, softened (why I don't make it any more - too much lactose)
2 T. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Assorted fruit: kiwi, peaches, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, grapes...etc.

Cut shortening into flour and salt. Sprinkle in water, 1 tablespoon at a time, tossing with fork until all flour is moistened. Roll out pastry to fit a 12-inch pizza pan (could do a rectangular cookie sheet) Place on pan and bake at 475 for 8-10 minutes. Cool.

Mix together the cream cheese, sugar and vanilla. Spread over crust. Top with assorted fruit. Serves 12.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but if it is - enjoy!

I hear you Amy... it's all about crumb toppings. Easy and good.

That said - I can't wait to try that Deana. THANKS!! It sounds simple enough but also impressive looking! Yay :)
